Pattaya joins top 1000 cities globally for startups, now ranked 833

MHESI Reveals Thailand Ranks 50 in World's Best Startup Ecosystem Delights Bangkok Triumphs 71 Places in Best Cities for Startups from 1,000 Cities Globally

 

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) by the National Innovation Agency (NIA) revealed the result of the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2021 by the StartupBlink, the world's most comprehensive startup ecosystem map and research center, on the Top. 100 Country and the Top 1,000 City on the World's Best Startup Ecosystem. For this year, Thailand still ranked 50 in the world, 4 in ASEAN after Singapore (ranked 10), Malaysia (ranked 40) and Indonesia (ranked 45); while the Philippines and Vietnam ranked 52 and 49, accordingly. For the Top 1,000 Best Cities for Startups, Bangkok jumped 19 places from 90 to 71 in the world, with Chiang-Mai, Phuket and Pattaya also in the ranking.

Prof Dr Anek Laothamatas, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, stated that this is considered as good news for the startup community at the results of the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2021 that Thailand still ranked 50 and has 4 cities in the top. 1,000 cities with the best startup ecosystems. Bangkok jumped 19 places from 90 to 71, with outstanding e-commerce and retail technology, which ranked 33 in the world. From the rankings, Chiang Mai ranked 397, Phuket ranked 442 (moved up 428 places from the original 870) and finally, a new city that has just entered the rankings for the first year, which is Pattaya, ranked 833.
